Data Scientist (Sport) | Sports Data Analysis, Biomechanics & Performance Testing Up to €40 per hour Bavaria, Germany - Hybrid working (3 days a week onsite) 7-month contract About the Client Digital Skills are working with a global innovation organisation that is investing heavily in athlete performance research and product testing.
The project focuses on developing objective, reliable and repeatable testing methodologies to evaluate athlete performance and generate evidence-based insights that support future product innovation. About the Role We are seeking a Data Scientist with a strong interest in sports performance, biomechanics and applied research.
You will play a key role in the collection, analysis and interpretation of athlete performance data, helping to develop and validate a robust testing framework that supports innovation and evidence-based product development.
Key Responsibilities Design and execute athlete performance testing programmes using specialist sports technology and equipment. Collect physical, technical and performance data from amateur and semi-professional football athletes.
Independently organise and conduct onsite testing activities within a laboratory environment. Provide professional guidance and support to athletes throughout testing sessions to ensure consistent, high-quality data collection.
Analyse performance data using Python, MATLAB and Excel. Perform biomechanical analysis and evaluate movement data from multiple sources. Process and manage performance datasets, ensuring data quality, consistency and accuracy.
Translate complex datasets into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations. Desired Skills & Experience Experience working as a Data Scientist, Sports Scientist, Performance Analyst or in a similar data-driven role.
Strong data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB and Excel. Experience working with large datasets and transforming complex data into actionable insights. Understanding of biomechanics, human movement analysis or athlete performance measurement.
Experience analysing performance, movement or other sports-related datasets. Experience producing technical reports and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently and manage testing activities from planning through to execution and reporting.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will combine strong data science and analytical capabilities with practical experience in sports performance, biomechanics or applied research. You will be comfortable working directly with athletes, collecting and analysing performance data, developing testing methodologies and translating complex findings into clear, meaningful recommendations.
