AI Models Manager

Overview

As the AI Models Lead, you drive the strategy and governance of advanced AI models for a global telecom context. You will lead model experimentation, training, and production readiness, partnering with product and platform teams to scale solutions. You’ll shape AI governance, vendor strategy, and innovation across distributed teams. This role offers hands-on impact in deploying cutting-edge models at scale within Vodafone’s AI Tower.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy for model selection, fine-tuning and training (PEFT/LoRA) on telecom data
• Lead high-complexity proofs of concept and pilot programs
• Provide leadership across data science, ML, and AI algorithms
• Establish model governance: drift monitoring, hallucination tracking, performance evaluation
• Evaluate proprietary, open-source and vendor AI models including Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Mistral
• Collaborate with platform engineering to ensure deployable, scalable models
• Lead distributed teams of ML engineers, data scientists and researchers
• Manage model training budgets, GPU utilization and R&D investments
• Drive continuous AI innovation through evaluation of new developments
• Deliver outcomes from pilot to production and faster time-to-market

Key requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline
• Deep expertise in data science, ML and DL including Transformer architectures
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face ecosystem
• Experience with Vertex AI Model Garden and custom training pipelines
• Strong understanding of PEFT/LoRA fine-tuning techniques
• Proven ability to translate business challenges into ML solutions
• Experience leading technical teams in agile/matrix organizations
• Track record delivering ML initiatives across global teams
• Experience building relationships with technology partners and vendors
• Knowledge of model monitoring, governance, validation and optimization
