Application Support Engineer

Application Support Engineer Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + up to 15% bonus + profit share scheme Location: Central Bristol - 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH Type: Permanent We're recruiting for an experienced Application Support Technician to join the IT team of an international law firm in Bristol.

You'll be part of a dedicated 3rd-line team supporting around 140 business applications, including SaaS, desktop and server-based systems. The role involves investigating complex application issues, supporting upgrades and releases, and working with other IT teams to resolve problems.

Responsibilities Provide 3rd-line support for business applications, investigating and resolving technical issues. Troubleshoot problems involving applications, SQL databases, Windows Server and related infrastructure. Investigate issues with APIs and integrations between applications.

Support application upgrades, releases, patching and testing. Work with infrastructure teams, developers and third-party suppliers. Manage incidents, problems and changes in line with ITIL processes. Create technical documentation and help improve support processes.

What They're Looking For Experience in 3rd-line application support or a technical support role involving hands-on application troubleshooting. Good knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory. Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.

Understanding of how applications interact with servers, databases and other systems. Practical experience with ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management. Experience with application upgrades, deployments or project work.
