Job Description Architectural Glazing & Cladding DesignerAnglian Architectural is a leading specialist in commercial glazing, curtain walling and faade solutions. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Architectural Glazing & Cladding Designer to join our established Design Team based at our offices in Great Massingham, Norfolk.
Working on commercial projects ranging from £5k to £5M, you will play a key role in delivering technically compliant, buildable design solutions from concept through to manufacture and installation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated designer looking to work on a varied portfolio of commercial faade projects within a supportive and experienced team.
The Designer role will include, but is not limited to:-Designing aluminium glazing, curtain walling, window, door and cladding systems using suppliers' technical manuals, including Schco, Aluprof and Reynaers. Producing accurate general arrangement, fabrication and workshop drawings for in-house manufacture using AutoCAD;Managing the design process from project award through to completion, ensuring programmes and budgets are achieved;Maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring design records are kept up to dateLiaising with Estimating, Procurement, Manufacturing, Project Management and Installation teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant and commercially;Reviewing client specifications and technical information, identifying discrepancies and proposing practical design solutions where appropriateAttending design coordination meetings with Main Contractors, Architects & Clients;Comparing tender drawings with subsequent revisions, identifying design changes and highlighting potential commercial implications to the Estimating Team;Raising purchase requests and supporting the Purchasing function where required; andAssisting the Projects Team with weekly updates on drawing progress to facilitate early communication with Main Contractor Teams and maintain programmes.
The ideal Applicant will be a Designer Architectural Glazing & Cladding - withDesign experience within the market sector, working with curtain walling, cladding, windows and doors;Strong AutoCAD skills;Experience working with systems such as Schco, Aluprof and Reynaers (similar systems will also be considered);Knowledge of system estimating software eg: Schucal, Logikal would be an advantageous (experience of other systems acceptable);Excellent understanding of technical drawings and construction details;Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to design;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; andA collaborative approach and the confidence to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and clients.
