Job Description Assistant AccountantDerby£28-32k + Full Study Support8am 5pm Mon-Thurs, 12pm finish on FridaysEaton Syalon is partnering with an organisation in Derby that has achieved exceptional triple-digit growth over the past 36 months.
As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, accounts receivable, operational finance, and month-end processes - all while receiving full study support and a clear pathway to becoming a fully qualified Accountant.
The RoleThe successful candidate will support the finance function across a wide range of accounting and reporting activities, including: Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash book postings within D365Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and national statistics reportingAssisting with maintaining the trial balance and updating supporting schedulesPreparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciationProducing and issuing sales invoices and credit notesMaintaining the sales ledger and ensuring customer account accuracySending customer statements and actively chasing overdue debtProviding weekly debtor cash updates and monitoring customer advancesSupporting month-end close processes including reconciliations and reportingPreparing monthly reports including Other Debtors, GRNI, and cost centre review packsAssisting with cost centre reviews through analysis preparation and participation in review meetingsProducing daily operational reports such as Hours vs BudgetProcessing and reconciling intercompany recharges on a monthly basisEnsuring intercompany balances are accurately recorded and fully supportedProviding payroll processing cover when requiredAssisting with year-end activities and responding to audit requestsAbout YouWe are keen to speak with candidates who are: AAT qualified/studying or a Finance graduateEquipped with previous finance or accounts experienceComfortable working with ExcelOrganised with strong attention to detailProactive, eager to learn, and keen to develop professionallyLooking for a long-term opportunity with progression into a qualified accounting roleIf youre looking for a role where you can build your accounting career within a dynamic, high-growth business, wed love to hear from you.
