Associate Director - Civil Engineer - Renewables

Overview

In this role you lead civil/structural engineering delivery for renewable energy projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, aligning with AECOM’s mission to deliver a better world. You will develop and grow the team’s technical capabilities while maintaining strong client relationships. You’ll tackle multidisciplinary design and oversee technical and contractual information, ensuring projects meet time and budget targets. This position offers exposure to wind, solar, hydro, grid works, hydrogen, and energy storage initiatives, with strong leadership and impact at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery and team development within the Renewable Energy division
• Maintain and grow client relationships, ensuring project alignment with timelines and budgets
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design of renewable energy infrastructure
• Review and generate technical and contractual information from internal and external sources
• Act as Lead Verifier on projects, including feasibility studies and design reports in structural engineering
• Direct and mentor staff, including graduates
• Liaise with clients and respond to project queries

Key requirements

• BEng (Hons) degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered status or actively working towards Chartered status
• Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) certification advantageous
• Strong technical background in structural engineering with renewable energy experience
• Experience in energy sector projects and ability to deliver complex design solutions
