Associate Director, Civil Engineer - Water Infrastructure

Overview

In this role you lead a multidisciplinary water team in Edinburgh to deliver Scotland’s next generation of water infrastructure. You will guide design delivery, mentor junior engineers, and ensure high-quality, compliant outcomes for major water projects. You’ll work with clients and partners to drive innovation, sustainability, and value across large-scale schemes. Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and coordinate with coastal, flood risk, and structures groups
• Deliver high-quality project outcomes meeting client expectations
• Manage design scope within budget and programme constraints
• Oversee QA processes and provide final sign-off on technical deliverables
• Mentor junior staff and foster professional growth
• Lead stakeholder engagement with clients and external partners
• Embed health and safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance

Key requirements

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering; professionally qualified (ICE, CIWEM) or equivalent experience
• Experience leading water/wastewater and/or flood risk projects
• Proven client-facing project management and commercial delivery
• People management experience and ability to lead teams
