Job Title: Associate – Electrical (Building Services)Overview: An opportunity for an experienced Associate-level Electrical Engineer, or someone operating at Senior level ready to take a step up, to lead the delivery of building services projects from initial brief through to completion.
This role combines hands-on technical leadership, team management, and client engagement, while supporting the strategic growth of a multidisciplinary consultancy. Working closely with senior leadership, you will oversee the Electrical discipline, ensuring high-quality delivery across projects.
Collaboration with BIM and Sustainability teams is key to delivering integrated, efficient, and innovative solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Project DeliveryLead electrical design and delivery across multiple projects Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for electrical building services (power, lighting, etc.) Act as a key client contact, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring high levels of satisfaction Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring profitability Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and codes Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated solutions Contribute to business strategy and operational improvements Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practice Team ManagementManage, mentor, and develop engineers, technicians, and junior staff Support training, knowledge sharing, and professional development Conduct performance reviews and support career progression Assist with recruitment and onboarding aligned to business growth Business DevelopmentIdentify and pursue new opportunities within the built environment Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships Prepare and contribute to fee proposals, bids, and presentations Represent the business at industry events and networking opportunities Project ManagementEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, civil/structural, architectural, and sustainability Manage client communication throughout project lifecycles RequirementsDegree (Honours or Master's) in Electrical Engineering or related field Chartered status (CEng, MCIBSE, or equivalent) desirable Extensive experience within an engineering consultancy environment Proven track record delivering and leading complex projects Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design and regulations Understanding of low-carbon and sustainable technologies (e.g. renewable energy systems, energy-efficient design) Familiarity with smart building systems and building automation Experience in business development and client relationship management Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software BenefitsCompetitive salary 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata if applicable) Flexible and hybrid working options Enhanced pension scheme Life insurance (4x salary) Employee Assistance Programme (24/7) Private GP access and second medical opinions Retail and lifestyle discounts scheme Family-friendly policies (enhanced maternity/paternity) Cycle to work scheme Long service awards Ongoing professional development and training support Salary: up to 71k Location: Edinburgh Type: permanentSUBMIT CV
