Associate Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will steer the Leeds structural operation, delivering technically sound projects while building a local team. You work with Directors and cross-office teams to grow the Leeds presence and influence regional markets in Yorkshire. You balance hands-on technical delivery with leadership, commercial responsibility and client engagement, with a clear path to Director for high performers. You’ll shape projects from feasibility to construction, shaping the local capability and reputation.

Responsibilities

• lead technical project delivery across steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures
• coordinate with disciplines and review designs, reports, specs, and drawings
• manage project finances, fees, variations, and invoicing
• mentor Engineers and Technicians and supervise staff recruitment and development
• maintain technical standards, lead design reviews, and ensure CDM/H&S compliance
• represent the firm at design team meetings, liaise with contractors and statutory bodies
• conduct site inspections and investigation work
• build and manage client relationships and pursue new work in Leeds/Yorkshire
• plan resource requirements and contribute to marketing and business planning
• travel between offices as needed to share resources and knowledge

Key requirements

• Chartered Structural Engineer - MIStructE preferred, MICE considered
• significant consultancy experience delivering complex building structures
• experience leading technical project delivery and multidisciplinary teams
• commercial project management experience and client-facing skills
• ability to work autonomously and make technical decisions
• 8+ years experience (quality and breadth > headcount)
