Automation & Controls Engineer Bilston, Wolverhampton Salary: Negotiable depending on experience Full-time, Permanent Exciting Opportunity – Join a Growing Business! Due to continued expansion, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to join their team at their new premises in Bilston.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong PLC programming and automation experience who enjoys fault-finding, repairing and improving automated production machinery. Working within a manufacturing environment, you will play an important role in ensuring machinery and production equipment operate efficiently, identifying faults, carrying out repairs and supporting ongoing improvements to automation systems.

Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding on automated production machinery. Diagnose and repair faults within PLC-controlled systems. Programme, modify and troubleshoot PLC systems. Maintain, repair and improve automated machinery and production equipment.

Identify the root cause of recurring machinery faults and implement preventative solutions. Support the installation, commissioning and integration of new equipment. Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment efficiency.

Carry out preventative maintenance and support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and in line with company procedures. About You Previous experience in an Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer or similar engineering position.

Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience is essential. Proven experience fault-finding and repairing automated machinery. Good electrical fault-finding skills, ideally supported by mechanical knowledge. Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.

Able to diagnose problems, work independently and find practical solutions. A proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine interest in improving machinery performance. What's on Offer? Permanent opportunity with a growing and expanding business.
