Automation Tester

Automation Tester - UK/Remote - Government £400/Day Inside IR35 Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Java, Selenium, and Cucumber. Create and execute automated test scripts for functional, regression, and integration testing.

Collaborate closely with developers, BAs, and product teams to understand requirements and ensure test coverage. Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement.

Perform root cause analysis of defects and work with development teams for resolution. Ensure adherence to testing best practices, coding standards, and quality processes. Provide regular updates on test progress, coverage, and risk.

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support test automation integration into build processes. Essential Skills & Experience Active Security Clearance. Strong, commercial experience in automation testing using Java. Proven hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for UI automation.

Solid experience using Cucumber / BDD frameworks. Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments. Understanding of API testing tools and frameworks (e.g., RestAssured, Postman). Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).

Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Government background. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience within Government or large-scale enterprise projects.

Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling). Understanding of containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
