JOB DETAILS JOB BAND: Fp CONTRACT TYPE: 2 year fixed term contract DEPARTMENT: Chief Presenter 5 Live LOCATION: Salford PURPOSE OF THE ROLE BBC Radio 5 Live is the voice of the UK home of live news sport and conversation that matters.
Its BBC Radios main outlet for breaking news bringing its audience major news stories as they happen and providing context with wide-ranging analysis and discussion. As co-presenter of 5 Live Breakfast youll work alongside Naga Munchetty to deliver the stations flagship news show five days a week from our Salford studios.
A highly experienced broadcaster and journalist youll help the station lead the days agenda interrogating the big stories of the day interviewing guests from across the news and sport spectrum bringing a broad and deep knowledge of UK and global news current affairs and sport.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT Broadcast a live 3-hour double-headed breakfast show 5 days a week from Salford. Deliver breaking news and bring audiences major stories as they happen. Lead editorially balanced interviews with guests across news current affairs politics and sport Contribute to the programmes editorial process with topical news and sport angles and creative radio treatments Build strong relationships with the 5 Live listenership and grow audiences Undertake regular development and review sessions Contribute to the growth of 5 Lives digital and social media strategy to build audiences on BBC Sounds and other platforms.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Extensive experience of presentation within live speech radio ideally in news and/or sport. Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of BBC editorial policy. Demonstrable experience in scrutinising and explaining major breaking news stories Excellent in-depth sporting knowledge and passion.
Ability to engage and involve 5 Lives audience Rigorous journalistic integrity with the confidence to hold people with power to account. Warm personality with the ability to see the funny side of life. Creativity to identify and generate original ideas to implement within the programme.
