Building Structures Engineer

Overview

As Building Structures Engineer, you will join the Advisory team to deliver technically sound structural solutions for Built Environment projects. You will work within a cross-functional group to produce designs, calculations, drawings and documentation that meet quality, cost and programme goals.

You will lead and mentor junior staff, liaise with clients, and contribute to bids and work-winning activities. The role may involve site work and out-of-hours commitments. This is a hands-on engineering role within a supported, client-focused environment offering development and ownership of critical deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically robust structural solutions complying with standards and client requirements
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation for scheme deliverables
• Supervise junior staff performing similar tasks
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives and attend progress meetings
• Contribute to bids and general work-winning activities
• Work on-site as visiting or temporary role with out-of-hours availability

Key requirements

• Demonstrable building structures experience
• Experience working in a team delivering robust engineering outputs (designs, calculations, drawings, documentation)
• Provision of technical leadership and guidance ensuring design governance and standards compliance including familiarity with Structural Eurocodes and Building Regulations
• Experience using 3D CAD software, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds
• Experience managing quality and programme performance across multiple schemes
• Professional engagement with clients and stakeholders to support project delivery
• Incorporated or Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (or working towards)
