Business Development Manager - Fire Protection

Fire Systems Business Development Manager London / Home Counties based Up to £75,000 Basic + OTE + Benefits Business Development Manager – Fire Protection An established fire protection specialist is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to grow its commercial fire protection business, with a focus on fire alarm installations and system upgrades.

With over 50 years of experience, the company provides complete fire protection, detection and suppression services to industrial and commercial clients across the UK, from initial surveys and bespoke design through to installation and ongoing maintenance.

This role offers the opportunity to build on your commercial fire protection experience and progress into the data centre sector, working closely with Operations Managers and Project Managers to develop opportunities within these specialist environments.

The Role You will develop new business, working predominantly with end users, selected M&E contractors and facilities management clients across the commercial sector, including Data Centres

Your responsibilities will include

Identifying and developing commercial fire protection opportunities, particularly fire alarm installations and upgrades. Undertaking site surveys, understanding client requirements and preparing tailored proposals and quotations.

Developing opportunities for new installations, system replacements and upgrades to existing systems. Building strong relationships with decision-makers and managing the sales process through to securing orders. Working closely with Operations Managers and Project Managers on technical requirements, project delivery considerations and the handover of secured work.

Progressively developing opportunities within data centre fire protection, drawing on the expertise of the operations and projects teams. Achieving agreed sales targets and margins. Experience and Skills You will have a proven track record in business development or new business sales within commercial fire protection, with the technical understanding to identify client needs and develop appropriate solutions.

We are looking for someone with: Experience selling commercial fire protection solutions, ideally including fire detection and alarm systems. Experience surveying, specifying or preparing proposals for new installations and upgrades within commercial premises.

The ability to discuss requirements confidently with clients, consultants, contractors and technical teams. A sound understanding of relevant British Standards for the systems being proposed. Strong estimating, costing, negotiation and commercial skills.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The organisation and initiative to manage opportunities from enquiry through to order. An interest in developing specialist knowledge of data centre fire protection.

Development Opportunity Previous data centre experience is not essential. This role would suit someone with a strong commercial fire protection background who wants to develop into this specialist sector. Working closely with Operations Managers and Project Managers, you will build your understanding of data centre requirements, including early detection, system interfaces, operational continuity and upgrades within live, critical environments.

Knowledge or experience of gaseous fire suppression systems would be an advantage, although it is not essential.
