Cash Controller

Overview

As Cash Controller at Wise, you will safeguard cash balances across entities and regions, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and a scalable control environment. You’ll partner with the Balance Sheet team to strengthen substantiation and end-to-end documentation, and work with engineering and finance colleagues to maintain robust bank integrations. Your work directly supports accurate financial closes and audit readiness in a fast-growing fintech. This role combines hands-on controls with cross-functional collaboration to help Wise scale responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Execute month-end controls for cash balances across regions and entities
• Support substantiation program for cash balances and financial statement assertions
• Review bank integrations and escalate issues to engineering for root-cause fixes
• Guide bank account setup with first-line BAAM controlling teams ensuring correct reference data
• Understand bank account integrations to assist external audit walkthroughs and inquiries
• Create and maintain end-to-end documentation of cash transactions with risk and controls
• Identify gaps in processes and propose practical solutions with other teams
• Participate in team planning to improve cash control robustness and security
• Build strong relationships with the wider Finance Tribe

Key requirements

• Solid experience in Financial Accounting or Controlling
• Understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP
• Self-starter with end-to-end ownership and ability to seek guidance for complex judgments
• Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude with attention to detail in reconciliation and financial closing
• Strong collaborative communication and ability to translate financial data for stakeholders
• Experience in a fast-paced international environment or FinTech is a plus
• Willingness to work in regulated financial services environments (FinTech/FS)
