CDM Principal Designer

Overview

In this role you will lead health, safety and CDM oversight as a Principal Designer on major UK energy projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams within AECOM’s Environment & Energy SH&E stream to embed a strong safety culture from pre-construction through handover. You’ll advise clients and teams, drive risk mitigation, and ensure compliance with statutory duties. Responsibilities

• Champion health, safety and environment, promoting wellbeing and a mature safety culture
• Lead proactive engagement in pre-construction, manage risk mitigation and design-to-construction transition
• Deliver high-quality outcomes and add value across deliverables and processes
• Provide CDM guidance to energy projects, staff and clients to ensure statutory compliance
• Collaborate with colleagues to form a cohesive one-team approach
• Advocate for adherence to management systems and procedures to strengthen safety culture
• Support SH&E promotion, including Life Preserving Principles and Safety for Life

Key requirements

• Design / engineering degree
• Experience in Overhead lines and HV projects
• Member of the Association of Project Safety
• NEBOSH National or General Certificate, or equivalent health and safety qualification
• Experience delivering the Principal Designer role on energy projects
