Job Description Chef / Kitchen Lead Wanted - Country Village Pub Were looking for a chef to join a beautiful country village pub in north-west Essex, near Saffron Walden and close to the Essex/Cambridgeshire border. This role would suit someone who enjoys proper pub food, busy Sundays, and a more relaxed setting than a high-pressure restaurant kitchen.

It is not necessarily a full-time role, and could work well for an experienced chef looking for a steady, casual position with a good work-life balance. Sunday is the key day for us, with Sunday roasts at the heart of the food offer.

We are looking for someone confident enough to manage busy Sunday services of around 100-140 covers, while keeping food quality consistent and service organised. At the moment, food service runs across three days, with scope to extend this for the right person.

The role would involve running a small kitchen team, helping shape the menu, keeping things simple and well executed, and putting your own stamp on a lovely village pub. Were not looking for fine dining or anything overly complicated.

We want someone reliable, calm, capable, and passionate about good pub food done properly. The role would suit someone who: Has solid chef/kitchen experience Is confident with Sunday roasts and traditional pub food Can manage a busy service calmly Is happy working with a small team Wants a more relaxed country pub environment Lives locally or within reasonable travelling distance Would enjoy having input into the food offer Hours and pay can be discussed depending on experience and availability.
