the Opportunity
This senior-level role supports the Civil Engineering division responsible for the replication design strategy transitioning from Hinkley Point C (HPC) to Sizewell C (SZC). Operating under the nuclear island design framework, the Level 3 Civil Engineer will act as a Technical Lead for the main civil contract (SZ2201), assisting the Civil Engineering Lead (CEL) across both Pre-SOC and Post-SOC delivery phases.
You will play a pivotal technical and contractual leadership role-overseeing technical specifications, conducting engineering surveillance, managing contractor technical queries (TQs), and ensuring civil design deliverables meet strict UK nuclear standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Civil Design Support Design & Technical Oversight: Provide expert technical support on building-specific civil engineering topics, requiring deep knowledge of civil design. Produce key deliverables, review internal/external technical documents, and lead technical alignment meetings.
Specification Review & Surveillance: Assist the Civil Engineering Lead (CEL) with technical specification reviews and establish comprehensive technical surveillance programmes, including annual surveillance reporting. Lessons Learnt: Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learnt from HPC and previous nuclear projects into SZ2201 contract activities.
