Job Description Skilled CNC Engineer Salary: Circa £35,000 Location: Southend Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:45 - 16:30 (37-hour week) Are you an experienced CNC Engineer looking to develop your skills further? We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and adaptable CNC Engineer to join a busy precision engineering environment supporting the aerospace sector.
This role is ideal for a candidate who has experience setting and operating CNC machinery and is eager to expand their capabilities by learning centreless grinding as part of their day-to-day responsibilities. The Role Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for setting and running a variety of CNC and secondary operation machine tools while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities Set and operate CNC machines, lathes, and manual machines. Learn and develop centreless grinding skills as part of the role. Safely operate secondary operation machinery including thread rollers, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers, and deburring equipment.
Carry out first-off inspections, buddy checks, and in-process quality inspections. Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Accurately measure components using micrometres and other inspection equipment, working to tight tolerances.
Manufacture components in line with quality standards and aerospace industry requirements. Complete daily maintenance checks and production documentation. Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, minimise rework, and improve productivity.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment. Support on-time delivery targets and contribute to key production performance measures. About You Previous CNC machining experience within a precision engineering environment.
Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly desirable. Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards. Experience working with materials including aluminium, stainless steel, and Inconel. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
Confident using micrometres and measuring equipment to tight tolerances. Grinding experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Positive team player with excellent communication skills.
