Are you a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC pre-contract experience? Do you have a background working for a main or principal contractor on complex civil engineering projects? Salary: 50,000–80,000 + package, depending on level and experienceLocation: Near Redhill, 3 days per week split between project and office locationsAn established civil engineering contractor is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of Quantity Surveyors at Intermediate and Senior level.
This is an opportunity to join at an early stage of a major infrastructure programme, taking an active role in the pre-contract and commercial development of packages before supporting them through delivery. The position would suit a commercially capable QS who enjoys being hands-on and taking ownership.
A strong general civil engineering background is key, alongside practical NEC experience. Previous experience within an aviation or similarly complex, operational infrastructure environment would be advantageous but is not essential. Essential

Quantity Surveying experience within a main contractor or principal contractor environmentStrong civil engineering or infrastructure experienceGood working knowledge of NEC contractsDemonstrable pre-contract experienceExperience compiling subcontract packages, scopes of work and ITTsCommercially confident with the ability to negotiate terms and conditionsA proactive, delivery-focused approachAbility to work collaboratively with project and operational teamsNice to have: Previous aviation or airport infrastructure experienceExperience working within complex, live or highly regulated infrastructure environmentsExperience on major infrastructure programmesStrong change management experienceRelevant degree or professional qualificationWhat will you be responsible for?
Supporting the commercial management of major civil engineering work packagesDeveloping and compiling subcontract packagesProducing clear scopes of work and commercial documentationPreparing and issuing ITTsReviewing subcontractor returns and supporting commercial evaluationsNegotiating subcontract terms and conditionsManaging commercial and contractual riskWorking confidently with NEC contracts and associated commercial mechanismsSupporting change management, variations and compensation eventsWorking closely with operational, engineering and project teamsMaintaining strong commercial governance throughout the project lifecycleThis client is particularly interested in commercially minded Quantity Surveyors who are used to producing and driving work rather than solely reviewing it.
