Competition Lawyer

Overview

In this role you will specialise in EU and UK competition work within a leading global law firm’s Competition, EU & Trade Group. You will handle merger control, investigations and advisory work, with scope to lead matters and manage client relationships with partner backing. The role offers hybrid London-based work and opportunities across sectors like energy, financial services, technology and life sciences. You will shape strategies on market studies, enforcement matters and litigation while contributing to a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Responsibilities

• Handle EU/UK competition matters including merger control, antitrust investigations and advisory work (cartels, vertical agreements, abuse of a dominant position)
• Provide guidance on competition law compliance and conduct market studies and investigations
• Manage client relationships and take a lead role on matters with partner support
• Contribute across sectors such as energy, financial services, technology and life sciences
• Engage in competition litigation where applicable
• Support cross-border and regulatory issues within the team’s scope

Key requirements

• 3–5 years PQE in competition law
• Experience in merger control, National Security & Investment Act, antitrust investigations
• Familiarity with competition law sub-practices and willingness to handle a mix of matters
• Strong technical excellence in competition law with a capacity to lead client relationships
• Confident, articulate communicator with a passion for competition law
• Background from leading City, international or national firms in the UK or Brussels or equivalent in-house/regulators is welcome
