Construction Manager

Overview

In this role you will oversee delivery of large-scale construction within the United Utilities region, ensuring safety, sustainability and quality while meeting time and budget goals. You will lead site teams, coordinate multi-disciplinary work, and drive continuous improvement through constructability reviews and responsible procurement. The position focuses on safe, innovative delivery for major water projects, contributing to a broader mission of reliable infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to shape efficient construction strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage site construction teams to deliver projects within budgets and programmes
• Facilitate kick-off meetings, health checks and monitor delivery performance
• Manage Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability compliance across construction activities
• Oversee supplier performance related to safety, time and quality including RAMS approval
• Lead constructability reviews, project rehearsals and Fit for Assembly sign-off to drive efficiency
• Promote zero-waste principles and reduce embodied carbon in construction
• Ensure timely contractual and commercial notices raised by site teams
• Plan labour, plant and material requirements with Lead Construction Manager
• Manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams to meet time, cost and quality objectives

Key requirements

• Experience delivering large-scale construction programmes
• Experience in the water industry preferred
• Construction-related degree or equivalent qualification
• Temporary Works experience or relevant qualification
• Project management experience – APMP or equivalent
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction Health and Safety requirements
