Freelance Project Manager - Dundee Pedestrianisation ContractDundee | Freelance Contract | 7 Months | Starting January An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction/Civils Project Manager to support the delivery of a major city-centre public realm project on behalf of the council.

The successful candidate will take a key role in the delivery of a significant program of works which will permanently transform a current vehicle focused area into a high-quality, accessible pedestrianised public space.

Backed by over 1.5 million of Scottish Government funding, the project will deliver significant improvements to the city centre, including new paving and level public space, improved pedestrian crossings, seating and shelters, planting, cycle parking, lighting, outdoor hospitality areas and a dedicated public events space.

The RoleYou will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of the project, working closely with the Council, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, effectively and in line with programme requirements .

Key responsibilities will include

Managing the day-to-day delivery of the Union Street public realm project. Coordinating contractors, consultants and relevant Council teams throughout the construction programme. Monitoring programme, progress, quality, risks and project delivery.

Managing project meetings and ensuring actions, issues and risks are appropriately addressed. Liaising with businesses, residents, stakeholders and other parties affected by the works. Overseeing the delivery of public realm, highways and civil engineering works within a busy city-centre environment.

Ensuring works are completed in accordance with relevant specifications, health & safety requirements and Council standards. Supporting effective communication between the Council, contractor and wider project stakeholders.

Maintaining appropriate project documentation, reporting and governance throughout delivery. About YouWe are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in the delivery of civil engineering, highways, infrastructure or public realm projects.

Ideally, you will have: Proven experience managing construction or infrastructure projects from delivery through to completion. Strong experience of public realm, roads, highways, streetscape or civil engineering works. Previous experience working with a local authority or public-sector client would be highly advantageous.

Experience managing external contractors and multidisciplinary project teams. Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly on projects within live or public-facing environments. Excellent project delivery, risk and project management capabilities.

Relevant construction, civil engineering or project management qualifications would be advantageous.
