Construction Project Manager - Retail

North & Scotland

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a passion for delivering retail environments that drive customer experience, sales growth and operational performance?

We are recruiting a Development Project Manager to join a leading UK multi-site retail operator with an ambitious investment programme focused on modernising and expanding its national estate. This role sits at the heart of the business's retail growth strategy, delivering everything from flagship refurbishments and store extensions to major redevelopments and food-to-go partnerships.

Working closely with Retail, Operations, Infrastructure and Development teams, you'll transform sites into modern, commercially optimised destinations that enhance the customer journey while delivering strong returns on investment.

The Role

This is far more than a traditional construction project management position. You'll act as the link between development and retail operations, ensuring projects are designed and delivered with both customer experience and commercial performance in mind.

You'll take ownership of multiple projects simultaneously, managing them from detailed design through to practical completion, ensuring minimal disruption to trading while maximising value, quality and speed of delivery.

Projects will include:

  • Retail store refurbishments and modernisation programmes
  • Store extensions and redevelopment schemes
  • Knockdown and rebuild projects
  • Food-to-go and concession partner rollouts
  • Customer journey and retail experience improvements
  • Operational and infrastructure enhancement projects

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience delivering projects within:

  • Retail
  • Convenience retail
  • Supermarkets
  • Hospitality and leisure
  • Foodservice and QSR environments
  • Multi-site property portfolios
  • Forecourts and roadside retail

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience managing retail fit-out, refurbishment or development projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage operational, commercial and construction teams.
  • A commercial mindset with experience managing budgets and driving value.
  • An understanding of how physical environments influence customer experience, trading performance and operational efficiency.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects across a diverse national portfolio.

This is an ideal opportunity for a Project Manager from a retail, hospitality, supermarket, convenience or multi-site development background looking to take ownership of high-profile transformation projects across a nationally recognised estate.
