Controls Software Engineer

The role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer with strong experience in Siemens PLC programming and TIA Portal to design, develop, and support control systems for automated conveyor systems. You will play a critical role in the implementation of industrial automation solutions in logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design PLC & HMI software based on client/design specifications. Commission conveyor systems and material handling equipment using TIA Portal or Studio 5000. Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs (only ladder logic).

Perform I/O checks, loop testing, system integration, and FAT/SAT (Factory & Site Acceptance Testing). Interface with third-party hardware/software. Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure smooth system startup.

Document commissioning procedures, test results, and project progress. Provide technical support and training to end users or on-site teams. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards during commissioning activities.

Travel to customer sites (domestic/international) for onsite commissioning. Carry out in-house control panel testing (FAT) Required Skills &

Qualifications

Degree or HNC in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent. 3+ years experience in commissioning industrial automation systems. Proficient in Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500) and Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix).

Strong understanding of conveyor systems, motors, sensors, and drives (VFDs, hybrid motor starters). Experience with Profinet/ EtherNet/IP communication protocols. Understanding of industrial control systems and safety standards (IEC, ISO, etc.).

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel layouts. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Willingness to travel extensively (globally) for commissioning activities...
