Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor We are seeking a Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to support Defence infrastructure, engineering, and major programme delivery. The successful candidate will lead cost management and quantity surveying activities across the full project lifecycle, ensuring effective commercial control and cost certainty.
This role is ideal for experienced cost professionals with a strong understanding of project delivery, contract administration, change management, and cost reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage cost plans and estimates.
- Deliver commercial and cost management services throughout project lifecycles.
- Conduct quantity surveying activities including valuations and assessments.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting.
- Administer contracts and support contract compliance.
- Assess variations, compensation events, and change requests.
- Evaluate financial impacts of scope changes and programme decisions.
- Support claims management and dispute avoidance.
- Provide cost assurance and cost benchmarking services.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare commercial reports for senior stakeholders. Essential Skills & Experience
- Quantity Surveying or Cost Management experience.
- Strong cost planning and estimating capability.
- Experience administering NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts.
- Commercial management of infrastructure, construction, engineering, or Defence programmes.
- Budget management and forecasting expertise.
- Change control and variation management experience.
- Supplier and contractor management knowledge.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills. Desirable Experience
- Defence infrastructure programmes.
- Government client experience.
- Earned Value Management.
- Cost assurance and benchmarking.
- Claims and dispute management.
- Programme controls integration. Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- MRICS (or working towards).
- NEC accreditation desirable.
- ACostE, CIOB, or equivalent professional membership advantageous.
