Customer Engineer, Platform, UK/IE Startups, Google Cloud

Overview

In this role you will lead high-impact technical engagements with rapidly scaling startups and VC-backed businesses. You act as a trusted advisor to founders, CTOs, and engineering teams, helping them optimize product delivery and cloud architectures on Google Cloud. You’ll deliver compelling presentations, workshops, and technical demonstrations at events and accelerate AI and data platform initiatives. You’ll collaborate with Sales to shape secure, scalable, cost-conscious solutions that drive business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compelling presentations, product demos, and workshops at Google events, accelerators, and conferences
• Build and nurture trusted-advisor relationships with startup leaders and engineering teams
• Help customers design and scale data platforms using BigQuery, real-time streaming, and vector databases
• Guide startups on implementing advanced AI workloads (Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows) using Gemini and partner ecosystems
• Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities and design secure, scalable cloud architectures
• Lead high-impact technical engagements with scaling startups to accelerate product delivery and optimize architecture
• Support customer journey on Google Cloud adoption to enable growth and transformation

Key requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience
• 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
• Experience engaging with technical stakeholders or executive leaders
• Experience working with venture-backed startups or scaleups
• Public speaking and presentation skills
• Relationship-building and advisory mindset
