Data Gov Analyst | Insurance | Manchester (Hybrid) Manchester (Hybrid - 2 days in office) Up to £50,000 + 15% Bonus + 10% Pension Tech: SQL | Excel | Data Quality Tools | Power BI | Data Governance Fundamentals Were helping a well-established financial services organisation build out a brand-new Manchester office, and were looking for a Data Gov Analyst to join a close-knit, 4-person data team right at the ground floor of that growth.

This isnt a role where youll be handed a finished data governance strategy and told to run it — the framework already exists, but theres genuine scope to shape how its applied day to day, and to build your own expertise in data governance as you go.

If youre detail-orientated, driven, and want to grow into a career in data governance rather than arrive as a finished expert, this ones designed for you. What youll be doing Tracing data back to its source — understanding where it comes from, how (or whether) its documented, and closing the gaps where it isnt Helping build and maintain a central set of business definitions, so the wider organisation is working from one shared understanding of its data Getting into the detail of data quality issues — investigating root causes, agreeing fixes with the people who own the data, and checking theyve actually worked, not just logging and moving on Partnering closely with stakeholders across the business — including senior managers, heads of department, data owners and data stewards — explaining issues in plain terms and building genuine buy-in outside your own team Getting hands-on with data analysis (Excel and, ideally, some SQL) and modern data tooling (Power BI, and similar) — you dont need to be an expert in these on day one, but you do need to be comfortable getting into the data yourself Prioritising and managing your own workload within a large organisation, where theres naturally more good work to do than time to do it — being able to triage and focus matters here What were looking for Some genuine, hands-on exposure to data governance, data quality, or a closely related discipline — enough that you can talk through what data ownership and data standards actually mean in practice, and why they matter, not just recite the terms A genuinely detail-orientated, analytical mindset Confidence with Excel as standard; SQL is a strong plus, and exposure to Python, Databricks or Power BI is great to have, but we care far more about your comfort getting into the data itself than which specific tools youve used Real confidence communicating with people outside your immediate team — explaining a data issue clearly to someone non-technical, or getting buy-in from someone senior, are both things youll do regularly here Any regulated or data-heavy environment is genuinely relevant — financial services or insurance is a plus, but were open-minded on sector; what matters more is the substance of the work youve done Sound like you?
