Data Scientist – AI / MCP Integration

Contract | Central London – Hybrid | 6 Months

TechShack is looking for 2 experienced Data Scientists to support an exciting public sector project focused on AI-driven data integration and intelligent automation.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who has experience building AI-powered systems and integrating large language models (LLMs) with real business data and platforms. You will help develop solutions that enable users to query business data using natural language and automatically transform information from emails, messages and meetings into structured, usable data.

The Role

You will work across two key deliverables:

AI & MCP Integration: Design and build MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that connect AI assistants to existing data platforms, APIs and business systems.

Intelligent Data Automation: Develop an AI-powered solution to extract, assess, summarise and structure relevant information from emails, messages and meeting notes.

Build and integrate APIs to connect AI capabilities with existing business systems.

Develop end-to-end data pipelines, including AI processing, human review and automated submission.

Work closely with product managers, service owners and business stakeholders to define requirements, test solutions and support user acceptance testing.

Deliver production-ready solutions, from initial design through to testing and stakeholder sign-off.

Essential Experience

Active SC clearance – mandatory.

Hands-on experience building MCP servers.

Proven experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into real business systems.

Working knowledge of AWS.

Strong API development and integration experience.

Experience with Python and/or TypeScript.

Knowledge of data platforms, data APIs, AI agents and tool calling.

Understanding of data security and authentication.

Experience delivering functional MVPs into production environments.

Confident engaging directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

Microsoft 365 integrations, particularly Outlook and Teams.

CRM or business management platform integrations.

Experience with additional cloud platforms.

Contract Details

Positions: 2

Duration: Initial 6-month contract

Location: Central London

Working arrangement: Hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite

Start date: ASAP, ideally 14 October 2026

Clearance: Active SC required

Please note: Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Copilot alone will not be sufficient. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience building and deploying AI-integrated solutions.
