DC Operative Haz

Overview

In this Hazardous Goods Packer role, you will safely and efficiently pack hazardous materials for transport, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. You’ll operate in a fast-paced UK distribution center and maintain strong safety practices. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to prepare shipments and keep meticulous records. This role offers the chance to contribute to safe logistics operations at scale and develop expertise in hazardous materials handling.

Responsibilities

• Pack hazardous goods safely according to guidelines and regulations
• Label and document shipments in compliance with OSHA, DOT, IATA, IMDG, ADR
• Inspect packages for leaks, spills, or damage and mitigate risks
• Maintain accurate packing records and related paperwork
• Coordinate with shipping/receiving to ensure timely dispatch
• Operate packaging equipment safely and effectively
• Conduct regular inventory checks of hazardous materials and supplies
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE
• Participate in safety training and stay updated on regulatory changes
• Assist in emergency response procedures related to hazardous materials

Key requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role (logistics/transport)
• Strong understanding of hazardous materials regulations (OSHA, DOT, IATA, IMDG)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Physical ability to lift and move packages
• Forklift certification (desirable)
