Delivery Manager (Defence Sector)

Overview

As Delivery Manager at Kainos, you ensure digital services and platforms meet user needs and agreed outcomes, while upholding governance and quality standards. You empower cross-functional teams, foster growth, and nurture strong client relationships to unlock follow-on business. You’ll balance delivery excellence with commercial oversight, contributing to Kainos’ mission of people-first collaboration and impact at scale.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce project governance and technical quality across the lifecycle
• Manage risks, issues, and confidentiality requirements; escalate when needed
• Drive project profitability with accurate forecasting and reporting of budgets and resources
• Lead and develop teams, set clear goals, provide feedback, and manage performance
• Foster constructive client and stakeholder relationships; coordinate with suppliers and third parties
• Support business development and account management to position Kainos for new profitable work
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and alignment across capability areas
• Support recruitment and onboarding to enable organizational growth

Key requirements

• Active SC clearance
• 3+ years in a similar role with UK defence sector organizations
• 3+ years delivering bespoke software projects from scratch using agile for external customers
• Experience staffing, allocating, and pricing manpower for large defence-scale projects in the UK
• Strong managerial skills (direct and indirect)
• Experience in strategic customer relations with technical teams and defence leadership
• Strong commercial awareness; managing finances, costs, and budgets (5M+)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Highly flexible and willing to travel/work away from home base
