Job Description Deputy Manager - Childrens Residential HomeLocation: South LondonSalary: £36,000 - £45,000Some jobs are about targets and spreadsheets. This one is about young people who need stability, guidance and adults who genuinely show up for them.
We are recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join a Childrens Residential Home in South London supporting young people with complex needs and challenging backgrounds. This is a hands-on leadership role for somebody who can lead from the front, support a staff team under pressure and help create a home where children feel safe, supported and understood.
This role would suit an experienced Deputy Manager or a Team Leader/strong Senior Support Worker who is ready to step into leadership. The RoleYou will work closely with the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, helping to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance whilst building a positive and stable environment for both staff and young people.
You will be the kind of person who is calm during difficult shifts, confident supporting staff, able to manage safeguarding concerns appropriately and understands that consistency changes lives in residential childcare. Duties will include: Supporting the Registered Manager in the overall operation of the homeLeading shifts and deputising in the Managers absenceSupporting, mentoring and supervising staff teamsPromoting safeguarding and positive outcomes for young peopleEnsuring care is delivered in line with Childrens Homes Regulations and Quality StandardsSupporting staff performance, training and developmentHelping manage rotas and staffing levelsBuilding positive relationships with families and professionalsMaintaining accurate records and compliance standardsAbout YouWe are looking for somebody who genuinely understands Childrens Residential Care and can balance leadership with compassion.
Experience with EBD or LD would be an advantage. You will have: Experience within a Childrens Residential HomePrevious experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Support WorkerStrong safeguarding knowledgeExperience supporting or supervising staffUnderstanding of Ofsted expectations and Childrens Homes RegulationsResilience, emotional intelligence and a calm approach under pressureExcellent communication and organisational skillsQualificationsLevel 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)Level 5 Leadership & Management or willingness to work towards it (desirable)Whats On Offer?
