Design Coordinator (Main Contracts) Luton, Bedfordshire £50,000 - £60,000 + Car Allowance Benefits Car allowance 33 days holiday including bank holidays Contributory pension scheme Life assurance Ongoing training and professional development On-site parking PPE provided Long-term career progression Exposure to projects up to £15m across multiple sectors The Opportunity A well-established and highly respected regional contractor is looking to appoint a Design Coordinator to support the successful delivery of projects ranging from £1m to £15m across the Home Counties, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and North London.
Reporting to the Main Contracts Director, this is a standalone design role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design process from tender stage through to project completion. The successful candidate will work closely with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams, coordinating consultant design teams and ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, technical requirements and client expectations.
Based between the company's Luton Head Office, project sites and client locations, the role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the commercial, education, industrial, heritage, blue light and leisure sectors.
This is a full-time position with standard working hours of 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday , although flexibility will be required to meet project and client requirements. This opportunity would suit an experienced Design Coordinator, Assistant Design Manager or Design Manager looking to join a successful family-owned contractor with a reputation for quality, repeat business and investing in its people.
Key Responsibilities Coordinate the design process from tender through to completion and handover. Support both pre-construction and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle. Manage full design, Design & Build schemes and Contractor Designed Packages (CDPs).
Liaise with architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors. Review designs to identify buildability improvements and value engineering opportunities. Manage drawing registers, design trac...
