Design Manager

Overview

In this role you lead the Design Management (DM) function, guiding a team across UK and international projects to deliver quality, compliant design outputs. You’ll support leadership with business planning, manage client-facing design coordination, and mentor junior DM staff to raise performance. You will ensure financial discipline, subcontractor management, and adherence to contractual obligations, contributing to projects that shape infrastructure and communities. Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Design Management team across projects (UK and international)
• Assist in business planning, performance reviews, and mentoring of DM staff
• Oversee financial processes, invoicing, and subcontractor contract management
• Develop and implement DM procedures (roles, scope, design programmes, deliverables, budgets, approvals)
• Coordinate design meetings and workshops, monitor progress and quality
• Review outputs for quality and contractual compliance before issue
• Achieve PM accreditation and manage projects per AECOM processes
• Support junior team members and ensure adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards
