Job Description Meraki Accountancy & Finance is representing a market-leading client based in the heart of Glasgow who are looking to add a Director of Accounting & Regulatory Policy. This is a high-profile senior leadership opportunity with a global firm, offering the chance to influence decisions that directly impact financial reporting, capital, liquidity, regulatory standing and business strategy.

The role has a global remit and enterprise-wide accountability, partnering with senior leadership on complex accounting and regulatory matters and playing a key role in shaping the organisation’s response to evolving standards and regulation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior leadership and independent advice on accounting and regulatory policy matters with significant financial, regulatory and reputational impact. Lead on complex IFRS and US GAAP interpretation, acting as a senior escalation point for significant transactions, structural changes and judgement-heavy accounting issues.

Own the global GAAP horizon-scanning agenda, assessing emerging developments and translating them into clear business impact, risks and recommendations. Provide policy leadership across Basel III, PRA rules and supervisory guidance, covering capital, leverage, liquidity and regulatory disclosures.

Advise senior stakeholders on the regulatory and accounting implications of strategic initiatives, balance sheet changes and evolving business models. Represent Policy on major Firm programmes, steering committees and governance forums, influencing outcomes where accounting or regulatory judgement is critical.

Build strong relationships across Finance, Risk, Legal, Treasury and business teams, providing advice while maintaining appropriate independent challenge and governance. Lead and develop team members within the centre of excellence, with responsibility for performance, talent development, succession planning and building future policy capability.

Experience required: Qualified accountant with strong technical expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP and a solid understanding of prudential regulation. Proven experience providing senior-level accounting and/or regulatory policy advice on complex, high-impact matters.

Strong understanding of enterprise risk, governance and regulatory expectations, with the ability to apply sound judgement in ambiguous situations. Experience influencing senior stakeholders at Managing Director level, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strategic mindset with the ability to translate technical policy into commercial, financial and Firm-wide outcomes. Experience leading or contributing to large-scale accounting or regulatory change programmes. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge and drive decisions. On offer: Market leading salary Hybrid working Flexible benefits Annual bonus
