Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design electrical building services for high-spec, regulated environments from a specialist consultancy in Glasgow. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver turnkey electrical solutions for demanding end-user clients. You’ll influence project success from concept through commissioning, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient, economical designs. Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services systems including HV and LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, structured cabling, and security systems
• Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations with senior-engineer support
• Select equipment and systems to meet project, regulatory, and client requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure standards compliance
• Produce construction-stage documentation including layout drawings, equipment schedules, and single-line diagrams
• Manage electrical design elements through design, construction, and commissioning phases

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience in electrical building services design
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles, codes, and industry standards
• Ability to think from first principles to deliver efficient, economical, high-quality designs
• Basic commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Proficiency in Trimble (Amtech), Dialux/Relux, Excel
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
• Full UK driving licence
