Job Description Electrical Engineer Location: Berkshire Daily rate: £234.85 (outside IR35) We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to play a key role in a Hospital Programme, ensuring that electrical systems, infrastructure, and engineering services are designed with operational effectiveness, compliance, maintainability, and sustainability at their core.
This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between design and operations, working alongside project teams, consultants, estates professionals, and stakeholders to help deliver a state-of-the-art healthcare facility. The Role As the Electrical Engineer, you will act as the key electrical representative for Property & Facilities Management throughout the design and development of the hospital.
Your expertise will help ensure that facilities are safe, compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities include
Reviewing electrical designs, specifications, technical submissions, and consultant proposals. Assessing designs from an operational, maintenance, compliance, and lifecycle perspective. Managing and responding to technical Requests for Information (RFIs).
Identifying operational risks and opportunities within proposed designs. Supporting operational readiness, transition planning, and future service transformation. Facilitating workshops and engagement sessions with operational stakeholders.
Producing technical reports, design reviews, and option appraisals. Supporting long-term asset management, sustainability, and lifecycle planning. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure operational requirements are fully integrated into the programme.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience). 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards this. Significant experience within healthcare estates, facilities management, or complex engineering environments. Experience reviewing electrical designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
Knowledge of LV distribution systems, emergency power systems, generators, and UPS infrastructure. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. The ability to translate technical detail into operational requirements and outcomes.
Desirable Experience NHS healthcare estates experience. Understanding of HTM 06-01 and other NHS technical guidance. Experience on major capital projects or healthcare developments. Experience of operational readiness, commissioning, and transition planning. Familiarity with BIM, digital estates, and information management systems.
