Engineering Manager HQ: Rainham, Essex + UK Wide Travel Hours: Monday to Friday Salary: Competitive + Annual Bonus + Vehicle and Fuel Card We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee the inspection, maintenance and repair of a nationwide fleet of containerised assets.
This role is ideal for someone with a formal engineering qualification and a strong background in maintenance, asset management or engineering operations. While this is a management position, you must be willing to remain hands-on when required, conducting inspections, assessing repair work and supporting sites directly.
Key Responsibilities Manage asset inspections, maintenance programmes and repair activities. Visit depots across the UK to monitor equipment condition, engineering standards and contractor performance. Review repair estimates and make recommendations on repair, replacement or disposal.
Investigate equipment failures, damage claims and operational issues. Control maintenance costs while maximising asset availability and reliability. Build strong relationships with depot managers, technicians, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and management reports. About You Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, NVQ Level 3+, or equivalent) is essential. Proven engineering background Experience managing maintenance operations, contractors or service providers.
Strong understanding of inspection, repair, and engineering best practices. Comfortable travelling extensively across the UK and overnight stays where required.
