An Outstanding Ofsted-rated mixed secondary school in Merton (ages 11–18) is seeking a dedicated and creative English Teacher (ECT) to join their successful English Department from January 2026. The Role As an English ECT ,
you will
Teach engaging and well-planned lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5. Inspire students to develop a deep appreciation for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Contribute to the ongoing success of a collaborative and high-achieving English Department.
Participate fully in school life, including enrichment activities and extra-curricular clubs. Receive tailored guidance, training, and mentoring from experienced colleagues. Requirements Is completing their PGCE or equivalent qualification and will hold QTS by January 2026.
Has a genuine passion for English and for helping young people reach their potential. Demonstrates creativity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Is a strong communicator with excellent classroom management skills.
