We are recruiting an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor to support and lead EHS programmes at a regulated manufacturing site in Durham. This is a hands-on role combining site presence with strategic influence.

Youll work closely with plant leadership and central EHS functions to ensure regulatory compliance, drive continuous improvement, and embed a strong, proactive safety culture across the site. Key Responsibilities Provide visible, hands-on EHS leadership through regular site presence, inspections, audits, and reviews Ensure full compliance with UK environmental, health, and safety legislation Lead and maintain site EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 certification Develop and implement site-specific EHS strategies, objectives, and KPIs Deliver engaging EHS training for employees, contractors, and leadership teams Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Manage environmental permits, water discharge consents, and regulatory reporting Oversee waste management programs (hazardous and non-hazardous) and contractor compliance Drive a proactive EHS culture through coaching, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor performance trends and recommend actions to reduce risk and improve compliance Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline 2 - 5 years experience in an EHS, QHSE, or safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong working knowledge of UK environmental and safety regulations (air, water, waste) Proven experience delivering EHS training and influencing operational teams Fluent English (spoken and written) Preferred Skills & Certifications Professional health & safety or environmental certification Experience maintaining ISO management systems Understanding of industrial processes and process safety Strong data analysis, reporting, and auditing skills Whats on Offer Stable, site-based role with structured working hours Opportunity to influence safety, health, and environmental performance at the site level Exposure to national and international EHS best practices Collaborative working environment with strong leadership support
