Estimator Defence

Overview

As an Estimator in our Defence-focused Estimating team, you will produce accurate, timely estimates and cost models for a broad range of defence projects. You will help drive best-practice estimation within the firm and support client decision‑making across UK and overseas assignments. You’ll work within an integrated project controls environment and liaise with clients, contributing to secure MoD projects. Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely and efficient manner
• Control and manage the estimating process at project level
• Produce estimates without supervision
• Support development and promotion of estimating best practice within Turner & Townsend
• Represent Turner & Townsend in client organisations to promote good practice in estimation
• Assist in achieving departmental objectives
• Keep up-to-date with developments in your technical area to provide best-practice advice

Key requirements

• Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
• Experience of working in the Defence sector
• Proven experience in compiling, assuring and delivering complex estimates and cost models
• Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team
• Public sector project experience
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and excellent written/verbal communication for client-facing roles
• Chartered status or degree-level education is preferred
• Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software is desirable
