We connect skilled professionals with reputable clients throughout the UK and internationally. We are currently seeking an experienced GRP Finisher / Composite Finisher to join a busy production team working on the build and finishing of high-quality marine craft and composite structures.
This role would suit candidates with experience in the marine, aerospace, automotive, wind energy, or composite manufacturing sectors , where transferable finishing and composite skills have been developed. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out finishing work to a high standard on composite components and marine builds, ensuring all products meet quality and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities of the GRP Finisher / Composite Finisher: Carry out finishing, fairing, filling, sanding, and polishing of GRP and composite componentsPrepare surfaces for paint, coating, and final assemblyUse hand and power tools to trim, shape, and finish composite structuresInspect completed work and identify any defects requiring rectificationSupport assembly and fit-out activities where requiredWork from technical drawings, build specifications, and work instructionsEnsure all work is completed to the required quality standardsMaintain a clean and safe working environmentWork collaboratively within the production team to achieve project deadlinesAssist with continuous improvement of finishing processes and workmanship standardsEssential
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in GRP finishing, composite finishing, or surface preparationExperience within marine, aerospace, automotive, wind energy, composites, or a similar manufacturing environmentSkilled in sanding, fairing, polishing, trimming, and defect rectificationAbility to use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectivelyGood attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanshipAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and build instructionsUnderstanding of workshop health and safety practicesAble to work independently and as part of a teamDesirable Experience: Marine or boatbuilding experienceExperience working on high-performance composite structuresKnowledge of paint preparation and finishing processesPrevious experience within a production or manufacturing environmentThis is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled team working on innovative marine projects, with candidates from related industries encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate relevant transferable composite finishing skills.
