Fleet Operations Manager

Overview

In this role you ensure seamless fleet operations that keep Severn Trent’s field teams mobile and productive. You lead a small team, align cross-functional stakeholders, and drive service quality, safety, and cost efficiency. The role focuses on proactive planning, stakeholder engagement, and compliant operation of a large vehicle fleet. You’ll contribute to a mission of reliable transport for teams and assets, with opportunities to shape fleet performance and customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Fleet and Operations to communicate issues and implement solutions
• Schedule work across the workshop estate and keep customers informed
• Manage operational performance of the vehicle fleet and nurture customer relationships
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, health and safety, and environmental requirements
• Monitor, control and report on transport-related expenditure to optimise costs

Key requirements

• Experience managing fleet or transport teams
• Strong leadership and people management
• Excellent knowledge of daily fleet processes, health and safety regulations, DVSA standards, and audits
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Understanding of KPIs, regulatory targets, and audit processes
• Commercial awareness is advantageous
