Forward Deployed Engineer

Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work directly with strategic customers to design and deliver custom full-stack applications on the Databricks platform. You own architecture, guide design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

You collaborate with cross-functional teams to impact customer outcomes and help scale reusable assets. This role blends deep engineering with customer-facing delivery to solve complex business challenges and drive measurable results. Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and best practices
• Design and develop applications spanning backend, frontend, and integrations to bring data and AI to life on the Databricks platform
• Deliver production-grade systems from data ingestion and transformation through ML/AI model integration to user-facing applications
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact across stakeholders
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Field Engineering to ensure a seamless customer journey
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts and influence the product roadmap

Key requirements

• Strong software engineering background with experience across backend, frontend, and systems integration; proficient in Python, SQL, Java/Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Ability to design, build, and deploy production applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces
• Experience with AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini, and using AI code generation tools
• Proven track record delivering technical solutions in enterprise environments with measurable outcomes
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across a broad stakeholder range, including executives
• Learning mindset with curiosity and adaptability to new technologies and customer challenges
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to client sites
