NegotiableBirmingham, EnglandContractA leading highways consultancy is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer (Contract) to support a major HS2 route package in Birmingham. This is a Geotechnical Construction Phase Support (CPS) role, co-located with the wider project team, supporting the contractor/client on site, handling live geotechnical issues and validating design assumptions.
Key ResponsibilitiesInspection and Test Plans (ITP) - Secondary Assurance/CheckReview ITPs and recommend witnessing requirements for contractor testing/inspectionsWitness site inspections/testing and review samples of construction recordsMaintain auditable site observation reports and record reviewsField Change Requests (FCRs) - Technical SupportReview/respond to site technical queriesFollow internal assurance processes for design changesFlag when external assurance is required for changesNon-Conformance Reports (NCRs)Respond to NCRs or coordinate design team supportFlag when external assurance is required for NCR solutionsInstrumentation and Monitoring (I&M)Analyse/interpret monitoring data and provide technical inputAttend regular monitoring meetingsProvide mitigation recommendations for trigger breaches/unexpected trendsEarthworks & Geotechnical Data LoggingSlope geological inspections/mapping (cuts, bulk excavations)Formation inspections for multiple structure typesGeotechnical Feedback Reports (GFR)Support production/checking of feedback reportsSupport junior staff as requiredRequirementsGeotechnical engineering experience in highways / major infrastructureStrong understanding of geotechnical design and CPS deliveryConfident with geotechnical data interpretation/analysisStrong stakeholder communication and problem-solvingAble to be on site in Birmingham 3+ days/weekRelevant engineering degree (or equivalent)If you're a Geotechnical Engineer looking for a high-profile HS2 CPS contract, please apply and we'll be in touch.
