The Higher Level Teaching Assistant may cover PPA sessions while maintaining established classroom behaviour and routines. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will run targeted literacy and numeracy interventions and adapt explanations for individual needs.

An effective Higher Level Teaching Assistant will monitor understanding, record relevant progress and provide clear handovers to class teachers. Work alongside permanent staff, promote inclusion and follow each school's safeguarding procedures.

What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant Recognised HLTA status, previous Higher Level Teaching Assistant experience or substantial primary school experience leading planned learning and appropriate class cover.

Sound primary curriculum knowledge, including intervention delivery and basic assessment. Confidence managing groups, communicating with teachers and maintaining positive behaviour. Reliability, professional judgement, adaptability and safeguarding awareness.
