Hydraulic Engineer

Overview

As a Hydraulic Engineer at Jacobs, you will help deliver UK water infrastructure that keeps communities supplied and protected. You’ll contribute across the full project lifecycle on water and wastewater schemes, from feasibility through commissioning, supporting sustainability, resilience, and innovation. Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.
• Work on water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines (pressurised and gravity), CSOs, reservoirs and river intakes, and bioresources infrastructure.
• Engage in Major Design & Build programmes and multidisciplinary projects.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver projects for UK water companies (e.g., United Utilities, Thames Water).

Key requirements

• Experience within the UK water industry
• Strong hydraulic engineering and design knowledge
• Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as HADES, WinHydro, SWMM, or similar
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards professional accreditation
• For senior roles, experience leading hydraulic studies and supporting the development of others
• Clear communication of technical information
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Mentoring or coaching others (for senior roles)
• Hydraulic modelling (HADES, WinHydro, SWMM or similar)
• Hydraulic design knowledge
• Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects
