Infrastructure Platform Engineer

Job Description Infrastructure Platform Engineer - DV Cleared Location: Taunton Rate: £550-£630 per day Contract: Initial 7-month contract (potential for extension) Clearance: Active DV Clearance Required Inside IR35 We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to support the ongoing operation, maintenance and development of a secure private cloud platform within a highly sensitive environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong infrastructure, virtualisation and security experience to take ownership of day-to-day platform operations, improve service performance and support the onboarding of new customers.

The successful candidate will be proactive, technically capable and confident making engineering decisions with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Monitor platform performance, investigate incidents and identify opportunities to prevent recurring issues.

Maintain and improve platform reliability, availability and resilience. Manage infrastructure patching, security hardening and vulnerability remediation. Implement and maintain access controls, identity management and security configurations.

Support infrastructure automation and configuration management using version control. Develop and maintain operational dashboards, alerts and service health reporting. Support customer onboarding and ongoing platform development.

Contribute to service improvement and operational recovery processes. Essential Skills & Experience Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DHCP, firewalls and load balancing. Virtualisation experience with VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent technologies.

Administration of both Linux and Windows operating systems. Understanding of infrastructure security, including IAM, RBAC, security hardening, vulnerability scanning and patch management. Scripting experience using PowerShell and/or Bash.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Desirable Experience Experience working within Agile or DevOps environments. Broader systems administration experience.

Previous experience supporting secure or Defence-related infrastructure environments. Security Clearance Candidates must hold active, transferable UK DV Security Clearance and be eligible to work on highly secure government projects.
