Infrastructure Test Engineer

Overview

In this role you will validate and assure the performance and readiness of critical Defence IT infrastructure. You’ll join a technical test team to build automated testing capabilities that verify deployments before operational use. You will design Python-based test frameworks, translate manual tests into automation, and provide evidence-based assurances to stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work on secure, mission-critical systems and shape the reliability of complex infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Python
• Convert manual test activities into automated scripts
• Support system integration, functional and regression testing
• Create test plans, reports, defect documentation and evidence packs
• Collaborate with engineering teams to validate infrastructure deployments
• Present test results and recommendations to project stakeholders

Key requirements

• Significant experience developing automated testing solutions with Python
• Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks
• Experience with BDD methodologies and Gherkin-based test development
• Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell and Bash)
• Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
• Experience in secure, regulated or mission-critical environments
• Professional experience in Automation Testing, Integration Testing or Systems Testing
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC)
• Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent industry experience
