Interim Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager - Pharmaceutical Process Plant - Inside of IR35 - Minimum 6 months potentially could go on longer

Location: Merseyside

Duration: 6 months initially, with potential to extend

Start Date: ASAP

I'm currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager to join a fast-paced process plant environment on an interim basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong engineering and maintenance background who enjoys leading teams, improving maintenance and engineering structures and driving operational performance.

The Role:

• Manage and support shift-based engineering and maintenance teams in a days-based role.
• Lead and develop a team of 4 direct reports.
• Oversee maintenance activities across a process plant, including pumps, pipework, vessels and associated equipment.
• Work closely with site management and the wider engineering team to ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Review existing maintenance structures and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager or similar leadership role.
• Strong experience within a process plant environment, ideally involving pumps, piping, vessels and other process equipment.
• Experience managing engineering or maintenance teams within a fast-paced industrial setting.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify and implement improvements.
• Pharmaceutical experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Candidates from chemical processing and other relevant process industries will be considered.

The Opportunity:

This is an initial 6-month contract, with the potential to extend. The business is ideally looking to appoint someone permanently but needs interim support in the meantime.

There may also be an opportunity for the successful interim candidate to apply for the permanent position if interested.
